Antique Victorian Door Knob Pair with Ornate Metal Backplates, Threaded Spindle, Eastlake Style Architectural Salvage

A beautiful pair of antique-style architectural door knobs with ornate round decorative backplates and a traditional metal spindle.
These substantial old door knobs have a wonderfully aged appearance, with intricate raised decoration, dotted textured backgrounds, scrollwork and heart-like motifs on the circular plates. The dark finish shows extensive layers of old paint, rubbed areas and exposed metal, giving the hardware an authentic aged architectural-salvage character.
The construction is especially interesting. The two knobs are joined by a metal spindle with threaded components and round securing washers, reflecting traditional door-hardware construction found in older period homes and antique architectural hardware.
The decorative design and construction are consistent with late 19th- to early 20th-century European/Victorian-era door furniture. The exact country, manufacturer and original installation are unknown, so I am not attributing these pieces to a specific factory or country without a maker's mark. They are not being sold as Soviet-era hardware.
The style has an attractive Victorian / Eastlake-inspired character and would be wonderful for an architectural restoration, period-style interior, antique house project, theatrical or film set, or simply as a decorative collectible.
Condition:
Original vintage/antique condition with substantial age-related wear. The metal surfaces show old layers of dark and light paint, rubbed areas, scratches, oxidation and exposed metal. The finish is uneven and beautifully aged rather than restored or refinished. Please study all photos carefully, as the photographs are an important part of the condition description.
Included:
• Pair of matching door knobs
• Two decorative round backplates/roses
• Original connecting spindle and visible fastening components, as shown
Please note that I have not tested these on a modern door or lock mechanism. Compatibility with a particular lock, spindle opening or door thickness should be determined from the measurements of your existing hardware before purchase.
A wonderful piece of old architectural hardware with plenty of character and restoration potential.
