Some history:
"The Adventures of Cibulino" (Italian: Le avventure di Cipollino) is a fairy tale by the Italian writer Gianni Rodari in 1951. The story tells about the adventures of fairy vegetables, about the struggle of Cibulino and his friends against Prince Lemon and Signor Tomato. The original name of the story was "The novel about Cibulino" (Italian: Il romanzo di Cipollino), only in 1957 the story received its current, generally known name. The work of another Italian writer, Carlo Collodi, "The Adventures of Pinocchio" (Italian: Le avventure di Pinocchio) had a certain influence on his writing. The work of the Italian communist writer Gianni Rodari had clear class and social allegories, which is why it was very popular in socialist countries, in particular in the USSR, where this story was published in large print runs and was adapted into a screen version.
