"Two Captains" is an adventure novel by the Soviet writer Veniamin Kaverin, which was written in 1938-1944. The novel survived more than a hundred reprints, including the first edition of the "Library of Adventures" series. For him, Kaverin was awarded the Stalin Prize of the second degree (1946).
The motto of the novel - the words "Strive and seek, find and not give up" - is the final line from Lord Tennyson's classic poem "Ulysses" (in the original: To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield). This line is also engraved on a cross commemorating Robert Scott's lost expedition to the South Pole, on Observer Hill.
