Vintage Soviet MS-13 Cup Anemometer with Original Bakelite Case
Condition: Excellent vintage condition visually; operation has not been verified.

A fascinating piece of vintage scientific instrumentation, this Soviet-era MS-13 cup anemometer was designed to measure average wind speed and moving air velocity. With its distinctive rotating cup assembly, analog dial, dark housing, and original protective Bakelite case, it is an unusual collectible for enthusiasts of meteorological equipment, industrial design, and vintage scientific instruments.

The instrument features four black rotating cups held within a curved protective metal frame. The cream-colored dial has a finely graduated scale, two smaller subsidiary dials, and original Cyrillic inscriptions, including “Анемометр чашечный” (cup anemometer), “ГОСТ 6376-74,” and “Сделано в СССР” (Made in the USSR).

The MS-13 model was designed for measuring average air-flow speed in industrial environments and average wind speed at meteorological stations. Its specified measuring range is 1–20 metres per second. The rotating cups respond to moving air, transmitting movement to the mechanical measuring mechanism and dial.

Whether displayed in a study, workshop, office, or curated collection of historical instruments, the MS-13 offers a glimpse into the practical engineering and measuring technology of the Soviet era.
