A soldering iron is the simplest hand tool (after a heated screwdriver) for contact heating of objects by transferring heat from a heated solid body to them. It is intended for tinning of surfaces and soldering of parts by local soldering. Structurally, it consists of a heated working body ("stinger") and a heat-insulated handle. Thermal characteristics of typical soldering irons allow you to use them for soldering work using only soft solders. It was first patented in 1823 by the young engineer B.Yu.
